"Spring" Into Some New Reads

Writer: Allison C.Allison C.

Good morning, everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying the month of April so far and the warmer weather. This month will bring the Easter holiday as well as Earth Day!

In honor of spring having sprung, below you can find a few reading recommendations to get you in the mood for this new season. Some are children's books for those of you with young kids, and some are books more geared toward adults and older readers.

Broken Sky by Nancy Crumley

Broken Sky weaves a tale of the Native American, the Indian, passing on a story of sharing and the importance of remembering tradition with a focus on nature. Delightfully illustrated, children will become involved following each page through the illustrations and the heart felt words. Rain is falling. The story follows as the rain fills the animals' homes. Burrows were flooding and tunnels were collapsing from the wetness. Nests on the ground and in the trees were not safe. Is the sky broken? Can the broken sky be fixed?

The Forgotten: Valaraii Rising Trilogy by Kristen Johnson

Deep within the Rudu Mountains in a long-forgotten tomb guarded by Strygoi—phantom creatures that thrive on fear and flesh—a warrior lay within a dark sarcophagus until two dwarf brothers, fleeing from the tomb’s terrifying guards, arrive. The warrior they awaken will be more than they could ever imagine and take their exiled clan on a journey beyond any fantasy or nightmare any of them have ever dreamed.

It will take all the reckless courage and ingenuity of the dwarves to survive the terrors heading their way as the Dark Lord Merilik appears, intent on what he started so long ago—the line of Asger’s total annihilation.

This young adult fantasy novel is part of a trilogy, with the second book releasing sometime this year. Catch up before its release by purchasing The Forgotten here.
