Hi, everyone, and welcome back to Bookmarked!

This week, check out an awesome interview with a brand-new Jan-Carol Publishing author, Jon Arnold.

Jon has a children's book coming out very soon called Some Jeeps, which is about—you guessed it!—different kinds of Jeeps. The book has pictures accompanying each page and will be a rhyming book for kids whose parents own a Jeep or love Jeeps.

Note: Final cover coming soon.
Note: Final cover coming soon.

So, without further ado, please enjoy the following Q&A with Jon Arnold, and tune in this Friday to our podcast for an in-depth conversation with the author.

BOOKMARKED: What can you tell us about your upcoming book, Some Jeeps?

It’s a rhyming book for kids that shows off all kinds of Jeeps... muddy ones, shiny ones, big tires, mall crawlers, and even Jeeps with ducks on the dash. Every page has a different kind of Jeep, and it’s made for people who enjoy Jeeps like we do!

What inspired you to write this book?

I became a new dad and started receiving a bunch of baby books. And being me, I thought I could write a book about Jeeps. But then, I thought there is probably already one like that, so I got online, and there wasn't one!

I work every day, so I started putting down rhymes in my notes on my phone and thought it could actually be a real book. I always change the lyrics to songs, maybe because I don't know the words, but rhyming has always come easy to me.

What is your background with writing or telling stories?

I don’t have one in writing, but maybe it's stories we all tell as mechanics. I work on Jeeps for a living. I just had an idea, wrote some simple rhymes, and it turned into something people liked when I showed them the pages. I've always wanted to invent something, and maybe this is it. Ha!

What would be your advice to people hoping to get published?

Well, I had no idea about the publishing process. I just had the idea to reach out to a friend of the family who had his book published. He gave us his book as a gift for our baby boy. He's the one who gave me Janie's number at Jan-Carol Publishing. You don’t need to be a writer or know all the steps; just find a good company to work with, and they will help you.

Is there anything you’d like to say to the supporters in your life?

Biggest thanks to my fiancée and son—they’re the reason I made this. And thank you to everyone who’s supporting the book or shared my links to it. To the Jeep community that we love and that helps me stay in business, and definitely to my mom. She's got as many crazy ideas as I do, and I guess that's where I get it from! And to my dad for putting up with us.
