Good morning, everyone!
Welcome back to Bookmarked, the blog for readers and authors alike. This week, I'm very excited to share an interview with a first-time author, Daryll Simcox.
Daryll's new thriller, The Breath of Darkness, is now available to purchase, and it is a mysterious and compelling novel that perfectly kicks off the fall season.
The book follows a new television reality show that takes contestants to an old fishing village surrounded by beautiful scenery in the hopes of finding evidence of a mythical creature known as the Hairy Man. However, the contestants and crew begin to realize there is something sinister going on, and the myth may be true after all.
You can purchase Daryll's debut novel here.
Now, please enjoy the following Q&A, and be sure to listen to Friday's podcast episode, because I got to have a great conversation with Daryll there as well. You'll hear insights into his intriguing novel, plus a sneak peek of his upcoming sequel.
BOOKMARKED: How would you describe your novel, The Breath of Darkness, to new readers?
DARYLL SIMCOX: The Breath Of Darkness is a novel about Bigfoot ("The Hairy Man") in Port Chatham, Alaska, and its interactions with the visitors of a reality show in the wilderness it calls home.
I understand you're a first-time author. How does it feel, knowing your very first book has been published?
The opportunity to have my book published was very exciting, and to be able to hold the book in my hands was really satisfying.
What do you hope readers experience while reading your book, and what do you hope they take away from it?
I would like for readers to be excited about turning the page to see what happens next. I would like for the reader to feel like they were able to follow the storyline and to be excited for the sequel to come out in print.
When did you first become interested in Bigfoot and other cryptids, and what about these paranormal creatures interests you?
Being an avid outdoorsman, I’ve always been interested in any of the folklore creatures that supposedly walk the forests. I’ve had a couple of experiences of my own out in nature with no definitive answers as to what occurred. I would like to think I had my own experiences with one of these creatures.
Is there anything you'd like to say to the supporters in your life?
I would like to thank my wife, Tammy, for proofreading each chapter as I continued to write, and also for encouraging me to finally get started with the books. I would like to thank Jan-Carol Publishing for the support and hard work they did to get my book into print. I would also like to thank my family and friends for spreading the word about The Breath of Darkness.

Again, please listen to JCP's podcast, Bookmarked, this FRIDAY for an exclusive interview with Daryll about his novel, plus his upcoming sequels.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Thanks for reading!
