Good morning, everyone! Welcome back to Bookmarked.

This week, we have an exciting interview with a returning author, Daryll Simcox. Daryll previously appeared on both our blog and podcast, Bookmarked, to promote his first novel, The Breath of Darkness.

In Daryll's debut novel, the idea for a new television reality show, along with the majestic area that surrounded the old fishing village, seemed like a perfect scenario. That is, until the crew and contestants come face to face with the so-called mythical creatures that call the port home.

This mysterious thriller about Bigfoot-like creatures can be found online here.

Now, Daryll is back to promote his book's sequel, titled Under Watchful Eyes.

In this book, return to the island of Port Chatham on the first anniversary of the failed reality show. This time, a group of individuals have been selected to return for the retrieval of those who didn't get to come home the previous year. Some are well aware of what awaits them, while others are oblivious to the dangers they will encounter there.

You can check out Daryll's gripping sequel here.

Now, please enjoy the following Q&A with the author, and be sure to listen to our podcast this Friday for another interview with Daryll.

BOOKMARKED: What can you tell readers about your newest book, Under Watchful Eyes?

DARYLL SIMCOX: Under Watchful Eyes, the sequel to The Breath of Darkness, is a continuation of the story about the Hairy Man of Port Chatham, Alaska. A year after the failed reality show, a group of individuals, plus some of the participants from a year ago, are assembled to return to the port to retrieve the remains of those that didn't get to come home. Not everyone in the group is solely committed to the task at hand, with some having other motives for their own self-gratification.

What was your experience like of writing your sequel, compared to writing your first novel?

The sequel and its events were already in my thoughts by the time I was a little over halfway through the first book. As soon as The Breath of Darkness was completed, I began writing Under Watchful Eyes the very next weekend.

How did your writing process vary (or stay the same) while writing Under Watchful Eyes?

The process of writing the sequel was the same as writing the first book. I feel like I was able to develop a smoother flow of the events in the sequel as I presented the storyline.

Have you learned anything about yourself in the process of getting this second novel published?

I was really excited to see the first book in its published form and anticipated the sequel's release even more. This is something I have always wanted to attempt, and to accomplish it was very rewarding. I really enjoy creating the stories for anyone who is willing to take the time to read them.

What can we expect from you in the future?

I'm almost finished with a third book that will be ready to present to the publisher very soon. It's about another paranormal creature from a long time ago that has come into existence in the southern Appalachian region. The book starts in the Great Smoky Mountains and contains events all the way in Damascus, Virginia.

Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans and supporters?

I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read my books. The feedback from family and friends has been tremendous. All of the positive comments have been very encouraging and continue to drive me in the writing of new stories. A very special thanks to everyone!
